This ‘Order of Service’ may look good on the surface with regards to mentioning God, Jesus, quoting Bible verses, etc., BUT don’t be fooled into thinking that these people actually BELIEVE it! The Pharisees were the most religious bunch on the outside, but inside they did NOT believe the TRUTH of Almighty God, and in fact, hated God.
Now I have absolutely nothing personally against the Royal Family, or anyone for that matter, but I DO have things to say against those who will pervert and make a mockery of our precious Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and His inspired and preserved word. Unfortunately, this whole wedding service involves deception, blasphemy, hypocrisy, and subtle distortions of the Truth of the True Living God. Basically, this service is typical RELIGION.
There’s lots we can say, but here’s some immediate comments below in red.
Incidentally, click here for the TRUE meaning of marriage in the eyes of God.
At the entrance of the bride, all stand.
A fanfare will sound at the bride’s arrival.
Eternal source of light divine,
With double warmth thy beams display,
And with distinguished glory shine,
To add a lustre to this day.
Congregation remain standing.
Dean of Windsor greets congregation
The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you: and also with you.
A salutation given to SAVED Christians. I wonder how many there are in the congregation (including the clergy themselves) who are SAVED?
God is love, and those who live in love live in God and God lives in them.
1 John 4.16
The actual verse is:
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. – 1 John 4:16.
Em, not only are they NOT quoting from the Authorized Version King James Holy Bible, but I wonder why the first part of the verse is left out? Perhaps because the verse again is written to SAVED Christians who have known and have believed! Every reference of love here is to a born-again, saved Christian who has trusted the blood atonement of God’s Son to give them assurance, without FEAR.
All sit. The Dean of Windsor reads:
In the presence of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we have come together to witness the marriage of Henry Charles Albert David and Rachel Meghan, to pray for God’s blessing on them, to share their joy and to celebrate their love.
Marriage is a gift of God in creation through which husband and wife may know the grace of God. It is given that as man and woman grow together in love and trust, they shall be united with one another in heart, body and mind, as Christ is united with his bride, the Church.
The gift of marriage brings husband and wife together in the delight and tenderness of sexual union and joyful commitment to the end of their lives. It is given as the foundation of family life in which children are born and nurtured and in which each member of the family, in good times and in bad, may find strength, companionship and comfort, and grow to maturity in love.
Marriage is a way of life made holy by God, and blessed by the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ with those celebrating a wedding at Cana in Galilee. Marriage is a sign of unity and loyalty which all should uphold and honour. It enriches society and strengthens community.
No one should enter into it lightly or selfishly but reverently and responsibly in the sight of almighty God. Harry and Meghan are now to enter this way of life. They will each give their consent to the other and make solemn vows, and in token of this they will each give and receive a ring. We pray with them that the Holy Spirit will guide and strengthen them, that they may fulfil God’s purposes for the whole of their earthly life together.
This is pretty much fine, and it’s good that marriage between HUSBAND and WIFE is clearly mentioned. But I fear that it won’t be long until we see this ‘Royal’ marriage definition of ‘man and woman’ changed at some point.
I don’t like the way that they use a lowercase ‘a’ for Almighty God.
Lord of All Hopefulness
Oh the hypocrisy of singing hymns to God by those who either don’t believe in Him, don’t care about Him, profess to know Him but don’t actually know Him, the list goes on.
It’s interesting that they chose a hymn that is also used at the beginning of funeral services.
All remain standing as the Archbishop leads:
First, I am required to ask anyone present who knows a reason why these persons may not lawfully marry, to declare it now.
Just imagine the uproar if this actually happened!
The Archbishop says to the Couple:
The vows you are about to take are to be made in the presence of God, who is judge of all and knows all the secrets of our hearts; therefore if either of you knows a reason why you may not lawfully marry, you must declare it now.
I wonder if people do genuinely have any fear of God when it is declared that they are ‘standing in His presence’?
The Archbishop says to the bridegroom:
Harry, will you take Meghan to be your wife? Will you love her, comfort her, honour and protect her, and, forsaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall live?
The Archbishop says to the bride:
Meghan, will you take Harry to be your husband? Will you love him, comfort him, honour and protect him, and, forsaking all others, be faithful to him as long as you both shall live?
Of course, the ‘obey’ is gone now. What does the Bible say about this:
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. – Ephesians 5:21-33.
The Archbishop says to the congregation:
Will you, the families and friends of Harry and Meghan, support and uphold them in their marriage now and in the years to come?
Wonder how many actually will.
The Archbishop invites the people to pray, silence is kept and he says:
God our Father, from the beginning you have blessed creation with abundant life. Pour out your blessings upon Harry and Meghan, that they may be joined in mutual love and companionship, in holiness and commitment to each other.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Again, how many in the congregation actually believe all this?
From the Song of Solomon: read by The Lady Jane Fellowes from the Nave
My beloved speaks and says to me: “Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away; for now the winter is past, the rain is over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtle-dove is heard in our land.
The fig tree puts forth its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance.
Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.”
Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love is strong as death, passion fierce as the grave.
Its flashes are flashes of fire, a raging flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it.
If one offered for love all the wealth of one’s house, it would be utterly scorned.
Notice that they don’t give chapters and verses so that people have no idea how to go and check this out and read it for themselves if they want.
This is a mixture of verses from chapter 2 and chapter 8. Here are the actual verses:
My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away. – Song of Solomon 2:10-13.
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned. – Song of Solomon 8:6-7.
Wonderful verses of course, but it’s interesting to note that doctrinally, 2:10-13 is dealing with the Rapture of the Church. Again, how many of the congregation (including the clergy) have any idea whatsoever about what is going to happen very soon to the SAVED Christians?
All remain seated while the Choir of St George’s Chapel sing the Motet.
All remain seated
by The Most Reverend Michael Curry
Blasphemy! How dare this man call himself ‘Most Reverend’!? Reverend is a Name for God, again only found in His inspired and preserved word, the Authorized Version King James Holy Bible:
He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name. – Psalms 111:9.
The modern ‘bibles’ remove this one occurence of the word as the religious crowd like to use it for themselves rather than for God.
All remain seated.
Karen Gibson and The Kingdom Choir will sing ‘Stand By Me’ from the West End of The Chapel.
Harry and Meghan, I now invite you to join hands and make your vows, in the presence of God and his people.
The bride and bridegroom face each other and join hands. The bridegroom says:
I Harry, take you, Meghan, to be my wife, to have and to hold from, this day forward; for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part; according to God’s holy law. In the presence of God I make this vow.
The Bride says:
I Meghan, take you, Harry, to be my husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward; for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part; according to God’s holy law. In the presence of God I make this vow.
They loose hands.
I hope and pray that this genuinely IS the case, and that these two people come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour, and become a shining testimony around the world for Him.
The giving of the rings
Heavenly Father, by your blessing let these rings be to Harry and Meghan a symbol of unending love and faithfulness, to remind them of the vow and covenant which they have made this day, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The bridegroom places the ring on the fourth finger of the bride’s left hand and, holding it there, says:
Meghan, I give you this ring as a sign of our marriage. With my body I honour you, all that I am I give to you, and all that I have I share with you, within the love of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
They loose hands and the bride places a ring on the fourth finger of the bridegroom’s left hand and, holding it there, says:
Harry, I give you this ring as a sign of our marriage. With my body I honour you, all that I am I give to you, and all that I have I share with you, within the love of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
All remain seated.
The Archbishop addresses the people:
In the presence of God, and before this congregation, Harry and Meghan have given their consent and made their marriage vows to each other. They have declared their marriage by the joining of hands and by the giving and receiving of rings. I therefore proclaim that they are husband and wife.
Again, for the TRUE definition of marriage according to what God says about it, please read this post.
The Archbishop joins their right hands together and says:
Those whom God has joined together let no-one put asunder.
Not saying it specifically about this couple as I don’t know them. BUT, does God actually join together two people who don’t believe in Him? Think about that BIBLICALLY for a while.
All remain seated while the Choir of St George’s Chapel sing:
All remain seated.
The blessing of the marriage
The Archbishop says
Blessed are you, O Lord our God, for you have created joy and gladness, pleasure and delight, love, peace and fellowship. Pour out the abundance of your blessing upon Harry and Meghan in their new life together.
God has indeed created all those things, BUT, He is also a consuming fire with the wrath of God abiding on those who do NOT believe (John 3:36), and now requires EVERYONE to come to repentance. Do you hear this mentioned much?
Let their love for each other be a seal upon their hearts and a crown upon their heads. Bless them in their work and in their companionship; awake and asleep, in joy and in sorrow, in life and in death.
Finally, in your mercy, bring them to that banquet where your saints feast for ever in your heavenly home. We ask this through Jesus Christ your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
There’s NO WAY this is going to happen unless they get SAVED! The ‘banquet’ as they say, refers to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, which is ONLY for SAVED Christians!
God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, bless, preserve and keep you; the Lord mercifully grant you the riches of his grace, that you may please him both in body and soul, and, living together in faith and love, may receive the blessings of eternal life. Amen.
The ONLY WAY to receive the ‘blessings of eternal life’ is to believe the Gospel right now! This last paragraph speaks of ‘works’ in order to be pleasing to God – a false gospel.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9.
All sit or kneel.
The prayers – led by Archbishop Angaelos and The Reverend Prebendary Rose Hudson-Wilkin from the Nave.
Wow! We now have an ‘Archbishop’ (putting himself above Christ) and a ‘Reverend’ again (putting herself on the same level as God) joining in blasphemy!
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. – 1 Peter 2:25.
Incidentally, what does the word say about women ‘church leaders’? Read 1 Timothy 3.
Faithful God, holy and eternal, source of life and spring of love, we thank and praise you for bringing Harry and Meghan to this day, and we pray for them.
Lord of life and love: hear our prayer.
Em, does God hear the prayers of unsaved, Christ-rejectors?
May their marriage be life-giving and life-long, enriched by your presence and strengthened by your grace; may they bring comfort and confidence to each other in faithfulness and trust.
Lord of life and love: hear our prayer.
May the hospitality of their home bring refreshment and joy to all around them; may their love overflow to neighbours in need and embrace those in distress.
May they preach the Gospel to ALL people of ALL nations. They have the perfect opportunity to do it!
Lord of life and love: hear our prayer.
May they discern in your word order and purpose for their lives; and may the power of your Holy Spirit lead them in truth and defend them in adversity.
Will they even ever pick up a Bible and learn what’s inside the Book I wonder? And don’t forget, that the Holy Spirit (the Author(ized) of the Book) will only reveal truth if you are actually a child of God through the new birth. Just look at the mess this ‘Archbishop’ and ‘Reverend’ are already in from not being able to understand the Book!
Lord of life and love: hear our prayer.
May they nurture their family with devotion, see their children grow in body, mind and spirit and come at last to the end of their lives with hearts content and in joyful anticipation of heaven.
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. – Proverbs 22:6.
And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. – Deuteronomy 6:5-7.
Lord of life and love: hear our prayer.
Let us pray with confidence as our Saviour has taught us
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name; your kingdom come, your will be done; on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.
Here’s the actual passage by the way:
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. – Matthew 6:9-13.
For the true meaning of what is known as ‘The Lord’s Prayer’, please read this post.
It’s interesting too that (as always the case in organised religion) these prayers have to be pre-written. Where is the genuine, heartfelt, spontaneous prayer for these people?
Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer
All remain standing as the Dean of Windsor says:
God the Holy Trinity make you strong in faith and love, defend you on every side, and guide you in truth and peace; and the blessing of God almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always. Amen.
There’s the lowercase ‘a’ again!
All remain standing.
The organ plays as those who are signing the registers move from the Quire to the North Quire Aisle.
All sit at the conclusion of the organ music.
During the Signing of the Register music is played by Mr Sheku Kanneh-Mason and the Orchestra.
All stand as the Bride and Bridegroom return to the Quire.
The procession of the bride and bridegroom
All remain standing during the Procession of the Bride and Bridegroom, until members of their families have left the chapel.
All remain standing as the Ecclesiastical Procession leaves by way of the Organ Screen and the North Quire Aisle.
Thereafter please leave the Chapel as directed by the Lay Stewards.
Those in the Quire should leave by way of the South Door in order to stand on Chapter Grass to view the Carriage procession on Chapel Hill.
And…….where’s the Gospel message just to make sure that people are actually saved and do get saved? Ah yes, it’s nowhere to be heard as usual.
Well, for those who have read this far, click here for the Gospel.
My personal prayer is that somehow even one soul will get saved from hearing about the Lord Jesus Christ today – whether within the attending congregation or within the millions of people around the world watching the ceremony on television. I also pray that Harry and Meghan do get saved very soon, and become hard working soldiers for the Lord, and through their efforts, see other souls saved. All glory to God! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
